HISTORY
Campbell & Ferrara was founded in 1945 by Ed Campbell (Jim’s dad) and John Ferrara (Jim’s uncle) in Alexandria, VA as a plant nursery, garden center and landscape design company. 2nd generation Jim Campbell and his wife, Donna Campbell, own and operate the business. The 3rd generation, along with our team of talented professionals, continues to adhere to the Campbell & Ferrara business values practiced since 1945; respect your customer, treat them with integrity, and provide a product of quality and value.

To us, each client and their landscape design is unique. All outdoor spaces, regardless of size, provide an opportunity to create an extension of your indoor living space to the outdoors. Our professionally trained landscape designers take the time to get to know you. They then try to understand your landscape goals and nurture and guide your ideas through the development stage to the final approval of the project. Then our highly-skilled team of plantsmen, craftsmen and stone masons build the project to completion with the utmost attention to detail. Our reputation for excellence is enhanced by our firm commitment to social responsibilities and we believe strongly in giving back to the local community that supports us. Owners, Jim and Donna Campbell, were the recipients of the “2008 Citizens of the Year” award from the Annandale Chamber of Commerce for their work with Azalea Charities, a non-profit organization that provides aid to wounded soldiers and community charities. Award was presented by President, Carol Zack along with Fairfax Board of Supervisors members Gerry Connolly, Sharon Bulova and Penny Gross.

Chris Myers and his team at Campbell & Ferrara did a fantastic job on a landscaping and drainage project for our backyard. We had a portion of our backyard that was overgrown with weeds and suffered from drainage issues. We did not know where to start. Chris had a vision for the project that he developed over several site visits, and presented the renderings to us. He incorporated our preferences, and was able to execute it within two days. His team worked hard in cold weather to transform a neglected area to a highlight of our yard that tastefully incorporates better-functioning drainage. Chris is an extremely knowledgeable and detail-oriented professional who is a pleasure to work with. We are looking forward to working with him on our next project in the spring.

I have been a loyal customer of Campbell & Ferrara for quite some time. As an avid plant lover, I strive to keep my plants thriving, often collaborating with Mike Whitecomb in their plant nursery. Mike's extensive knowledge of plants has always been invaluable, and I frequently stopped to seek his advice on various plant issues. I cherish the close-knit, neighborhood feel of Campbell & Ferrara.However, I was deeply disappointed to learn recently that they would be closing their plant nursery. Honestly, don't know where I will seek future plant advice going forward.During my visit, I noticed the outside team, led by Peter Rhyne, was conducting a landscaping consultation. I had always assumed my landscaping project was too small to warrant their attention. But after speaking with Peter, he welcomed my inquiries and assured me that no project was too small.Peter offered excellent advice and completed a small patio area project for me. The work was done promptly and beautifully. I am truly grateful for Campbell & Ferrara's craftsmanship and exceptional customer service.

We interviewed 3 contractors to design and landscape our front yard. We went with CF after meeting Jeff Trafidlo. He is upbeat, creative, responsive and flexible. Our landscape has a perfect variety of perennial and evergreens that bloom from spring to fall. We lost a few plants and they were replaced under warranty without a problem. If you are looking for a professional, high quality landscape designer, call Jeff with CF.

Peter and his team did an outstanding job for us. Peter provided detailed, professional plans that made it easy to envision both our new patio and front yard changes. He was engaged with revisions, the crew was efficient and tidy, and the final result was exactly what we wanted. We’ve used them again for smaller projects because they deliver quality work. Definitely a five-star experience.

Peter solved a major drainage issue, designed a beautiful patio for us and landscaped our backyard with deer resistant perennials. It doesn't get any better than this. Peter and his crew deserve an 11 out of 10!

I had excellent landscaping done five years ago by C&F And recently contacted them to extend some of their original work. Peter Rhyne took a look at my issues and very quickly sent back a great and detailed plan. Work was finished today and I can’t wait to watch the new shrubs fill the space. Definitely pleased I was able to use this company again and will do so in the future!

I have always dreamed of the day we could have our yard landscaped to absolute completion. Peter Rhyne not only filled our gardens with beautiful plants, he went beyond my imaginings with his design, including a children's sensory garden with boulders to climb on, tall grasses to run through, blueberries to pick in season, and a lovely bridge inviting them into this sweet scape. Every inch of our yard from front to back as well as the sides are blossoming with a new and wonderful variety of plants, expanded spacious patios and lovely rock retaining walls that we can also enjoying sitting upon under our trees. And all of this he has lit up at night! Beautifully done, Peter and the Campbell and Ferrara team!
